Belt Buckle Bulge: SOLUTION!

The waist of most of my pants (especially my jeans) stretches out pretty fast. Thus they require a belt. But I like to wear fitted tops that are longer than my pants waist.

This leads to a dilemma.

1) Wear a belt, pull the top over the belt, and have a funny pooch in the front over the belt buckle.

2) Forget the belt and just tug at my pants all day. And complain that I should have worn a belt and looked stupid with the pooch.

There is no win-win here. Either way, I end up pretty frustrated. Well after a #2 solution this past weekend, I’m fed up.

So after a little bit of internet searching, I think I found a solution. A couple brilliant people somewhere in time decided to make a “virtually invisible belt”. I found two such products, the isABelt and Invisibelt.

The Invisibelt promises that it “provides instant slimming effect, lays flat under fitted tops, and adjusts like a bra.”

It comes in naked, black, patterns, and a few limited edition colors.Sizing: original fits sizes 0-14; plus fits up to size 4x Price: $19.95”

The isABelt promises that it Belt is ideal when you need a belt, but a traditional one just won't work with your outfit. Helps eliminate back-gap, belt-bulk and belt slippage Great for fashion issues stemming from low-riser styles.”

It comes in clear or black. “Sizing: All sizes adjust down to accommodate smaller sizes , Small, medium and large size adjusts down to fit a size "0" ,Plus adjusts down to fit a size "4" Price: $16.95

Well, I definitely want one. I’m leaning toward the Invisibelt, but maybe cause I like the packaging and thickness of the belt better. Either way, this seems like a great solution to my problem.

Have you tried either of these products? Do you have this belt bulge problem? What was your solution?

Bridesmaid dresses that won't go straight to the back of the closet!

This next year, I happen to have a lot of friends that are getting married. Hooray for them! Let’s just hope they don’t turn into Bridezillas! (I’m not saying I might not become one myself some day) *crosses fingers and toes hoping not to be one* Anyway, this means lots of brides will be choosing bridesmaids and more importantly bridesmaids dresses. After my last experience with a David’s Bridal bridesmaid dress I don’t even want to think what other horrors girls could be facing this wedding season (which is practically all year long). So brides listen up and take a look, Stylecaster put together a list of some GREAT options for your maids! Now these are quite a bit out of my price range, but it’s a great place for ideas! PLEASE READ and RETAIN! Happy Wedding-ing!?!

Heather Levine is the Fashion Editor of TheKnot.com, the #1 wedding website. As Fashion Editor, Heather is responsible for producing and styling the fashion and beauty stories most coveted by brides for TheKnot.com and The Knot weddings magazines, as well as acting as host for fashion segments on The Knot TV, the site's 24/7 streaming video channel. As in-house stylist at The Knot, Heather takes care of editorial styling for media and special appearances.

Been a bridesmaid? Then you've definitely heard this line before: "...and the best part? You can totally wear this dress again!" Now, we all know what really happens. There's an unflattering, dusty-rose dress taking up way too much space in your closet. Not anymore! You can--no, you will want to--wear these styles more than once.

Amsale's Jersey Dresses: I'm obsessed with these super-comfortable dresses. They're all about simple sophistication. Plus, they're not nearly as noisy as taffeta! Rock this one-shoulder style at your next black-tie affair with some chunky, layered necklaces. Amsale jersey dress, $310, visit amsale.com for stores.

Alvina Valenta's LBDs: You can't go wrong with a black, cocktail-style bridesmaid dress. I especially love the trapeze silhouette of this version by Alvina Valenta, but if it feels too shapeless for you, a belt will create the sexy, cinched waistline you crave. Alvina Valenta LBD, $190, visit jlmcouture.com for stores.

Vera Wang's Ethereal Dresses: This light pink hue is definitely wedding-worthy, but at first glance, may be a bit too delicate for everyday wear. A pair of gray tights and a sleek leather bomber jacket will add just the right amount of edginess to this sweet dress. Vera Wang ethereal dress, $250, visit verawang.com for stores.

Melissa Sweet's Embellished Dresses: Okay, here's the deal; these sequin-studded gowns are way too much fun to wear only once! I would definitely sport this frock to a cocktail party with black tights and patent-leather stilettos (New Year's, anyone?). A friendly word of advice to brides eyeing this style: it's best for smaller bridal parties--think four girls or less. Melissa Sweet embellished dress, $268, visit melissasweet.com for stores

Monique Lhuillier's Bateau-Neck Dresses: I'm addicted to Mad Men, so you can imagine how excited I was when I saw these high-neckline, pencil-skirt dresses hit the bridal scene. Plus--and this is a rare one--after the wedding you can even wear this number to work. Monique Lhuillier bateau-neck dress, $295, visit moniquelhuillier.com for stores.

Ann Taylor's Scoop-Neck Dress: What I love about a scoop-neck dress like this one is that you can totally wear a regular bra (your well-endowed bridesmaids will worship you for this), and the straps also make it easier to dress up or dress down. My favorite part? The oh-so-practical pockets, of course! Ann Taylor scoop-neck dress, $215, at anntaylor.com.

There ya go! Some great new options for bridesmaids dresses that you could wear again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again!

Obsession of the day: Leggings

I could wear these every day for the rest of my life (or at least until I get tired of them). I mean work, play, and sleep in them. Mine are unbelievably comfortable. Today, it is basically flooding outside so rain boots are a must. And leggings are the perfect “pant?” to wear with them. They slide right in with out any stuffing and dry out quickly when a few rain drops hit them! Woo-hoo!

Wear them with a longer tunic, belted dress (how I’m wearing mine today), a long cardigan, or a boyfriend blazer. Just about anyway imaginable, these can work. I especially love how they look with boots of almost any kind!

I like mine just plain stretchy black but you can get them in all kinds: jeggings, patterned, shredded, studded, liquid, and more! They can be super expensive or super cheap. Mine were $4.90 from Forever21. (I’m a cheapie sometimes.)

However you wear yours, you can’t deny this trend. What’s your current fashion obsession?

Is this trend really worth it? Thigh-high/Over the Knee Boots

thigh high bootsI am patiently waiting for just the right time to wear my boots. And this has me wondering if one of the biggest trends this season is worth the hype—thigh-high boots?

I haven’t bought any, nor do I really plan too, but they sure do look fun to wear! But they also look extremely uncomfortable?!

Obviously they aren’t for eating dinner at the local Chili’s.

1) You have to sit down and those boots don’t look good for sitting

2) People would give you some strange looks.

Tons of celebs have rocked these boots, but it just makes me wonder, if you’re not famous, not in high fashion, and not attending social events 24/7, are these boots really worth the investment?

Yes, they are uber fabulous looking, but I think that I could forego a little uber fab for a season, save some cash, and buy a classic piece in the spring. Plus, I have a little “Pretty Woman” feelings about these boots, and don’t want people to think those same thoughts about me.fcboots_overknee celebs

For me, I’ll wait this trend out. Will you be buying these thigh-high boots? How much are you willing to pay for trends?

P.S. If you search for pictures of them, type in “over the knee boots”, otherwise you won’t get what you are looking for!

Makeup wonderings

I go on tangents a lot, usually because I’ve just had a number of experiences with whatever I’m talking about. Well, today it is about makeup.

  • ULTA is opening soon! ---As you know, we are finally getting an ULTA in Tyler. Yay! I’m patiently waiting for it to open, and drive by every once in a while to check on its progress. (Lame! I know.) It is going to open soon! My prediction is in November, just in time for Holiday shopping! If you want to work there (who wouldn’t want a discount?), apply here!
  • Cleaning out your make up drawer is a fresh new look on your makeup!---I’ve been redecorating my bathroom, which some how means switching around drawers and products. Anyway, this led me to cleaning and moving my makeup drawer. I wear mineral powder makeup, which gets all over and I have more palette eye shadows that break for no reason, all leaving my makeup drawer pretty dirty. So I got out the Lysol and went to cleaning last night. In the process, I cleaned out my makeup, throwing away expired, broken, and empty products! Now my drawer is clean and sparkly. I’m looking forward to putting on my own makeup again after seeing what I actually have. Here’s what it looks like all clean!
  • Nice Customer Service is wonderful! ---So this isn’t so much to do with makeup as customer service, but it started with makeup! I’m am absolute lover of Bare Minerals make up (proud wearer for 1 ½ years! Woo-hoo!) So when I got a coupon in Glamour last month, I went ahead and ordered my base. Well it came yesterday and of course my luck. I was one shade off when I ordered and got a light color than normal. So I called their hotline to see about returns. The automated menu offered to speak to a “Beauty assistant”. My first thought was, “Stupid”, then “Why not?! What could it hurt?” I talked for about 7 minutes to an assistant, regardless of the conversation; she was nice, polite, and very helpful! She definitely helped me in my makeup questions. It is just refreshing to have a positive customer service experience. Just another reason to love my Bare Minerals!

Ok, I’m done with my musings about makeup. What are yours? Are you excited about ULTA??? When was the last time you cleaned/cleaned out your makeup drawer?

The Death of a Heel

It’s a sad dreary day in more ways than one! I live in the South where we are experiencing mass amounts of rain. Every time I look out the window, rain, rain, and rain! Now normally I don't mind the rain because I have an umbrella, rain boots, and/or coat. Today was not one of those days. I didn't expect the sky to open; I expected sprinkles, so I dressed cute in heels, pants, and cardi.

As I went to the grocery store during lunch, I managed to step in a puddle near the door that was mid-calf deep, soaking my heels and the bottom ¼ of my pants. It was literally as if I dunked my feet into a bath. When I got under covering, I had to take off my black patent pumps and pour out the water. Normally, I’m very careful about what shoes I wear when it’s raining so as not to soak them. Today was just a freak accident.

These heels are soaked completely through. In between the lining, padding, everywhere. So I’ve taken them off for now, hoping against hope they will dry out and be ok. But I’m pretty sure they are dead. Too waterlogged to continue!! And this pair is in my top 5 of favorite shoes! *sigh* Hope for the best, but in the mean time I’m going to search for some new ones, just in case!

What happened when your favorite shoes were ruined? Are they replaceable?

As seasons change, I change others things too! Do you?

As seasons change, more than just the weather switches, we all wear to warmer clothes in darker tones and colors, makeup palettes change from dewy skin to a more matte finish, less bronzer more blush, and richer jewel toned eye shadows and nail color.

Well, same goes for my hair. I don’t really plan it but somehow, my hair changes with the seasons. As winter fades to spring/summer, my hair usually gets lighter with highlights, and as summer fades to fall/winter, my hair usually gets darker with the help of my preferred hair dye.

So a few days ago I made my transition to fall/winter with 6WNLight Chocolate Brown/Nonstop Chocolate by Clairol’s Perfect 10. I’ll admit it was darker than I expected, but I’m loving the color and getting more used it. Here’s my transformation:

The hunt is on for the elusive, PBP!

Hunting season has started, but I'm not looking for any cute furry/feathery animals. What I'm searching for is of the clothing variety ( a MUST-HAVE) but very hard to find. I'm searching for the Perfect Black Pant (PBP).

Does anyone else have this problem? I have 2 pairs right now. One is too long to wear flats with; this drives me insane. The other pair is so loose in the waist that I have to wear a belt but I have to pull them up so high it looks stupid with any belt. Instead, I've been wearing dresses and skirts, but I'm getting tired of shaving my legs every day.

So I'm looking for new black pants that are a reasonable price. I've spent more than I wanted before at The New York and Co. and was completely disappointed when those expensive pants basically fell apart. So I'm not going there again. Anyway, I actually despise this shopping activity because its so hard to find the exact right pair.
Maybe these below will work?
Where do you get your PBP? Do you have this problem?
