Sgt. Pepper at your Command!

Sgt. Pepper is back in command! Some of the hottest celebs and models have been sporting

some retro wear like the Beatles did on their Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover:

Womens Wear Daily had this great article about the latest fashion craze:
Without question, The Beatles are one of the most influential musical acts of all time, and lately the Fab Four have been having a fashion impact once again. BeyoncĂ© Knowles, Kanye West and Rihanna have all been spotted sporting cadet-style jackets — the kind first made popular by the group on the cover of their revolutionary 1967 concept album, “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.” (Michael Jackson donned a similar style during his “Thriller” days, and Britney Spears is currently rocking the topper on her “Circus” tour.)

But now the look has left the stage and been spotted on the street: Knowles and model Eniko Mihalik both opted for versions with metallic embellishments to dress up a pair of skinny jeans for a night out on the town. Rihanna, meanwhile, selected a simpler version of the look (paired with white shorts) for a daytime ensemble.

And the members of another four-man band, Coldplay, each selected a different color of the same style to hit the red carpet at the Grammys. Perhaps they were hoping to channel a bit of Beatlemania?

I personally like Rihanna's the best! What do you think?

Supermodel preggers!

Ok, so we are by no means a celebrity gossip site but we just had to report what the web (here, here and here) is spinning with: reports say that, supermodel, Heidi Klum is pregnant with her 4th child!!

Perhaps thats why she was wearing this heinous sweater and large coat on April 13? To cover a baby bump?

As the host of one of our favorite shows, Project Runway, we here at Fierce Glamour congratulate Ms. Klum as she is always GORGEOUS whether plumply pregnant or ridiculously skinny!

We are sure that just like last time, in time to walk in the Victoria Secret runway show, she'll bounce right back to her amazing body!
CONGRATULATIONS, HEIDI & SEAL!

Marilyn Monroe: Plus Sized or Waif thin?

I found this great article today. Read it and let me know YOUR thoughts:

From Allure.com:

Marilyn: Not as Plump as Everyone Thought
April 14, 2009

When historians recently studied Henry VII's armor, they found that he was much, much larger in life. But a recent Marilyn Monroe costume exhibition proves the famously curvy icon was actually a quite tiny size six.

In fact, Times UK writer Sara Buys actually got to try on the legend's clothes (jealous!), and found she could barely wiggle her own petite frame into them.

Here are the digits:
Marilyn was 5 feet, 5 inches, weighed about 112 pounds, and boasted the extreme hourglass, Jessica Rabbit-like measurements of 36-23-35, which totally disproves that whole idea that she was far rounder than today's average starlet.

Still, it's a remarkable collection of numbers. Want to take your own turn in one of Monroe's famous frocks? It'll cost you: Her infamous "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" dress fetched a cool $1,267,500 at a 1999 Christie's auction.

Makes you think twice about sizes and how society defines women's bodies doesn't it?

Weekend

Ok, so sometimes I recommend great places to find things in the area; well today is opposite day. Here is a place I DO NOT recommend going, matter of fact, avoid it:
Longview Nails
3407 N. 4th St.
Longview, Tx 75605

Me and my bestie decided to do a little pampering and go get a pedicure Friday. We had lunch and arrived at the nail salon about 1:30. We mentioned we wanted to sit by each other (duh!). So we had to wait about 30 minutes for chairs (ok, not great but oh well) then we were put in the chairs with water and waited another 45mins for someone. They were severely understaffed!! By the time a person got to us, the water was cold and my feet felt like prunes. The service was not quality at all! By the time we left, it was 4:30 (WHOA!! it took forever!).

Bestie had two toes messed up, no drying time, and she also had exfoliant all over her legs which made them ridiculously sticky. I had one toe messed up, no drying time (basically rushed us to pay and leave) and the dots I asked them to do were all smudged.

From bad service to poor time manangement, I recommend avoiding this place. Has anyone else ever been there? Where have you had bad experiences?

Maxi Dresses = Maxi Messes

This past weekend, I went out to a restaurant with a live band; the weather was nice enough to sit outside and from the way people were dressed; you would have thought it was summer. Of course to no great surprise, maxi dresses are back! With quite a vengeance, I saw at least 5 different girls with them on. Now before we go any further, let me just state: I don’t like these dresses. So if you disagree with me, feel free to stop reading this post. I think these dresses look like messes for a number of reasons:

1. They make you look short; unless you’re already over 6ft. I’m 5’4” and I’ve tried numerous maxi dresses on only to look in the mirror and feel like I’m 5 again wearing mom’s clothes for dress-up. No thanks, I’d rather look my age.

Look at Hayden Panatierre in the yellow!

2. Most of the time, the patterned ones look like curtains. I’m ok enough on money to not have to resort to taking down Grandma’s curtains to make a dress. If you have the money to buy the ugly maxi, turn and buy a regular cuter dress not these ugly patterns.

Poor Jessica Simpson & Misha Barton! Curtain wearers!

3. They remind me of muu muu’s. The absolute fashion statement of elderly everywhere. Now there is absolutely nothing wrong with muu muu’s. I think they are fine; my grandma wears them. Its just, I wouldn’t want to be compared to her when I’m only 25. Understandably so, right?

These dresses make Miley, Tori, and Rachel all look much older than they really are!

4. Maxi dress are very hippie chic! I did not live in the 60’s or 70’s, I am not a hippie, nor do I want to dress like one. If you did live then, are one now, and dress like one, great for you, I’m sure its all been fun. I would rather live and dress in the decades I’ve grown up in.

Who knew that Eva, Kylie, and Lauren were all hippies deep down?

Now, if you love this trend and can pull it off without looking like some of the above, go for it! Personally, I think this trend needs to stay with the Hollywood crowd, so we can always have good pictures of bad fashion choices. As for me, I will wear my dresses way above my ankles.

P.S. Don’t be surprised if I might look at you funny for wearing a maxi dress.
