Idol Style

Did anyone see American Idol on Tuesday? Ok, dumb question, more specifically did anyone notice the fashion choices on Tuesday? *raises hand* I did!! There was a pretty Latina girl who looked super cute, and she could sing too! I don’t remember her name but she had on a great grey tiered dress with a wide yellow belt that she turned the buckle in the back. (What a great idea!) Who wants to actually see some cheesy buckle!!

I wanted this outfit when I saw it! The dress was semi-dressy and the belt made it fun and funky. Her outfit looked super cute, now if she’d just cut those horrid Kim Kardashian-like shaggy bangs, she’d look amazing.

I didn’t manage to find the outfit but I did find a similar option.

A black tiered jersey dress from
Wal-Mart for $14.00.

(I’ve actually bought this dress from walmart.com, and I interested to see how it will actually look on.)

Paired with a wide pink belt from Wet Seal for $10.50.

I’ll keep watching Idol for more style tips, but you keep your eyes and ears open too!

So I decided to show you some of my favorites and some friends favorites. I especially love ones with bows! Thats why I have two that are the same but different colors. Show me your favorite headbands, and tell me what you think of mine!

Make-up=Make Beautiful

Hello loves,

Sorry for the long absence! This weekend my bathroom took most of my attention, not leaving a lot of room for anything else. I painted it. Let me tell ya, painting is not glamorous in the least! I had paint on my feet, legs, hands and hair. When I did finally un-paintify (I made it up) myself, I had a great appreciation for my makeup products that made me feel pretty again. So that’s what we will be discussing today, class.

#1 Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express

I have short, stubby eyelashes. But after 2 coats of this mascara, they look long and thick!! Its amazing! I’ve tried many mascaras and this is the most success I’ve had with one-ever! Go maybelline!

#2 Cover Girl Outlast All-Day Lipcolor

I got some of this lip color for Christmas. Makes a great stocking stuffer!! I’m not a huge lipstick wearer. I’ve always been a glossy girl. But as I start to put on my makeup I’ve realized that lipstick makes me look a little more mature, and I like it. I HATE lipstick, though. You have to be so careful not to mess it up or then you have to reapply, and the cycle continues. Well, CG Outlast is the best kind of lipstick for a girl like me. It lasts for at least 8 hours. ( I put in on before bed one night; it was still perfect in the morning) Once you apply the lip color, you let it dry for about 2 minutes. Then, apply the moisturizing topcoat. All you really have to reapply is the topcoat all day. And you definitely don’t have to worry about reapplying color. YAY for CG Outlast Lipcolor! I recommend it for anyone who hates lipstick but wants the color!

#3 Bare Minerals Makeup

This makeup has been around for a few years, but I didn’t start using it until May ’08. Two of my other friends used it and their skin always looked flawless and like they weren’t wearing any makeup. So happy birthday to me, I got some mineral makeup for myself. Now, I don’t think I would wear any other makeup or base. It is super light and doesn’t feel like I have a mask of makeup on. I feel comfortable enough to sleep in it, knowing it won’t cause major breakouts. . I love to “swirl, tap, & buff” my way to a pretty flawless face. It’s a little more expensive than I used to pay for makeup BUT once you get the regular size jar, it lasts forever! I’ve had mine since September and its nowhere near running out. The mineral veil is perfect if you don’t want to put on the whole she-bang, and the warmth, which is basically like blush, is a fantastic bronzer, even on my palest days.
So YAY for Bare escentuals! I recommend it to everyone!

Have a radiant makeup day!

Large hassles or Immense Glamour?

I have a love/hate relationship with oversize purses/handbags. I love love love how they look and love to carry them. But, I overstuff them until my shoulder feels like its going to fall off with its weight and hate them for the moment. I have the basics of course: makeup bag, wallet, checkbook, phone, keys, and mini-brush. Then depending on the day/event, I add other items: extra sweater for work (in case its cool), a pair of flats (in case the heels give me blisters), some kind of fruit (in case I run out of time to eat breakfast), camera (in case I see something that I have to remember), mail (inevitably I’ve checked as I’m leaving). My boyfriend has a pure hatred for my large purses. I complain so much that he fires back, “don’t stuff it with so much crap! Or switch to a smaller one!” Yet, if I did switch to a smaller one, where would he put HIS keys, phone and wallet when he can’t/doesn’t want to carry them? We have numerous battles over this subject, and I always say I’ll switch. So Sunday we had lunch with one of my best friends, C. She had the most fabulous new purse! It was a Nicole Lee Croc special Collection (CR7004) from the Fall 08/Winter 09 collection. Hers had yellow, tan, plum and white faux leather and was to die for! I held up my well-worn purse next too it and looked at my b/f, “See hers is smaller, I need one like that.” To which he rebutted by saying it was still too big and went on about stuffing too much in there, which I ignored. The whole point is I think these oversize bags are amazing. They are still hugely popular or designers wouldn’t make them. I’ve found great purses at Target, Aldo, Forever 21, Dillards, and Macy’s that look very similar to couture designs. I have no intention of giving up my oversize addiction any time soon. How about you? Do you prefer small or large purses? Do you hate this trend?

Helpful for your hair, Fabulous for an accessory

I am constantly waking up in just enough time to get ready for work, but not in enough time to put a good amount of effort into my hair. So usually it’s a little unruly. My best hair friend----headbands. Throw one on and you instantly have an excellent hairdo. I especially love the headbands Blair wears on Gossip Girl. They have inspired me to find some headbands with unique features. My favorites have little bows. I have a lot of trouble finding these though so I’ve taken to attempting to make some. I found a great simple technique. Tie your own super cute small bow on a twist tie (one like you’d find on a loaf of bread). You can actually buy the twist ties themselves, which is what I would recommend that way you don’t have stale bread. You can then tie the bow to anything, bobby pins, clips, and headbands. Whatever you attach it to, try to at least match of course. It’s a great way to save money and getting great style. Take a look at mine from today.

First Weekend of the New Year...

Hello, all! Hope the first full week of the New Year is going well. This past weekend was Canton First Monday Trade Days. For those who are wondering, “What the crap is that?!?!” Canton is a big “flea market” type gathering the weekend before the first Monday of the month. To read the history, click here. A lot of people set up booths in buildings and outside with any product you can imagine. From expensive antiques to cute boutique clothes to old junk, you can find it at Canton.

Of course my favorites are the boutiques set up in the Arbors and Trade Center buildings on the trade grounds. The boutiques have super
cute jewelry and clothes that I don’t find in any stores around me. Some of my favorites are:

Wild at Heart #4303 building 4000 (Canton)
Uniquely Different Trade Center III

I went this past Sunday and almost all of my favorite booths had GREAT sales for the New Year. Here are some the great finds I’ve gotten from canton over the last year and this past weekend. These accessories and clothes are from some of the links above:

So the next canton weekend is January 29th through February 1st, 2009. Go and find yourself some goodies!
