What are you wearing today?

I'm wearing a forever 21 tank dress with black/white stripes and 3 red buttons on the top with a blue jean material skirt, and black stretchy belt. Topped off with BKE silver rhinestone sandals and a black patent leather headband.

Perez goes Coco for Fashion!

I'm pretty sure everyone has heard of Perez Hilton. He's the hottest gossip blogger, I think, on the planet. I am addicted to his site and check probably 3 or more times a day. Anyway, if you don't know or just haven't been keeping up lately, Perez is making his mark in other areas besides drawing inappropriate objects on celebrity pictures. Lately, he's moved into starting a record label and a tour.

Well ladies and gents, He's moved to fashion! Perez Hilton presents a sister site to his new fashion site: http://www.cocoperez.com/ (after Coco Chanel, get it?)

In an exclusive interview with The Thread's, Sarah Bernard, he revealed that the new site will launch Aug. 13 (tomorrow!!!). He also took on questions about his critics, Vogue Editor-Anna Wintour, and his love for Heidi! Read the whole "perezcious" interview here!

The Thread is a special section of Shine.yahoo.com. A place I hold close, since I also put most of my posts on there, and since they've given me the incredible opportunity to be a Shine Beauty Guru. I <3 shine!

5 Ways to Stay Feeling Fab in Horrendous Heat

August is the worst of the summer months. The temperature is beyond just hot and it is almost impossible to feel sexy. Clothes feel tight and sticky; make up feels heavy and pore-clogging. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Here are 5 products to make yourself feel sexier quickly and easily!

Ponytail Holder-There is nothing easier than throwing your hair up in a ponytail, chignon, or bun. Whether yours is low or high, you’ll look instantly chic, and won’t have that nasty neck sweat. My favorite is the Goody Ouchless Elastics in Neutrals.

  • Sunglasses-Aviators, Wayfarers, Round, Square or Oversize-they all look good. If you have to be outside and don’t feel like caking on makeup, throw on a pair of sunglasses! No one will ever know you have a naked face, and better yet it’ll make you seem mysterious! Every girl should have a little mystery to them! I love cute cheap ones like these from Forever 21.

  • Razor-In the heat of summer, nothing feels better than smooth shaven legs. Waxing and depilatories take too long. The fastest way to silky gams-a razor. Grab a can of shaving cream or even your conditioner bottle and get to work! I’ve been known to nab some of my boyfriend’s disposable razor for an extra close shave but my normal razor is a Venus!

  • Light Lotion/Moisturizer-Lotion and Moisturizer are two of my favorite things, but during summer, thick creamy lotion just won’t do. Nothing is worse than sweaty lotiony skin underneath your clothes. But the sun and water can drain the moisture out of your skin, so lotion/moisturizer is necessary. Gel based lotions are perfect for summer. You get all the moisture without the gross creamy feel afterward. Nivea’s Smooth Sensation is one of my favorite brands.

  • Self-Tanner-No summer is complete with out golden tan skin. The safest way to get a bronze glow is by self-tanner. Formulas have come a long way over the years and it is easier than ever to swipe on some self-tanner and look brown, not orange. My favorite is Loreal Sublime Bronze Towelettes. They are quick easy and fast drying.

Beat the heat, while looking hot yourself!

When is it appropriate to go sleeveless to the office? And at what age?

Its 101 degrees here. My office building was built in 1888 and doesn't have great A/C. Thus, I'm constantly hot.
My usual wardrobe has sleeves but lately I've been going sleeveless, wearing dresses and tops (not spaghettie straps, but with about 2 to 3 inches thick straps). Its just too too hot to wear a jacket or cardi.

Now, under any other circumstance I would never ever ever ever do this. I think its inappropriate in a professional setting. So, why do I wear it?

My boss wears sleeveless tops and "dress" shorts. So my thinking is, if she does it, I can too.

I'm never gonna wear shorts at my office, even if they are dressy. We are not some high fashion office, just average. And shorts are not in my comfort zone. But sleeveless is different. I mean I'm 23 with semi-toned/tan arms and I know it won't look bad.

My boss on the other hand is 65. The first time I saw her in a sleeveless shirt and dress shorts I was shocked. Because I didn't realize it was ok office attire

Am I in the minority to think that it is slightly innapropriate for her to be wearing these clothes, to the office? Would you wear sleeveless to the office? Would you were shorts to the office?

Look for the day! What do you think?

Rihanna was spotted this week in NYC wearing this cute little number! I happen to love this patterened dress. Its perfect for summer! And her simple black sunglasses still make statement.
But those shoes! They are fabulous no doubt! I'm not sure I love them with this sweetllittle dress.
Seems they are more night-out wear, but again this is Rihanna who shatters more fashion walls everyday!
What do you think of this outfit? Like it or Leave it?

2 stores that my town needs!

Tyler, Tx  is only so big, but more and more stores are being built every day.  Well, the stores that I want are NOT being built.  Here are the two stores I think Tyler should have and why:

1) Forever 21

We need a Forever 21.  I’m 23 and feel like I’m outgrowing some of the styles at Wet Seal and Body Central.  But I’m not quite ready to go to the Misses department of Dillard's or Macy’s.  (Tyler has a much older population thus the stores cater to them) Not only does it happen to be my favorite store, Forever 21 offers the perfect balance of the cute trendy fashions and “real world” appropriate clothes.  Ok, so I’m really biased for F21, but Tyler still needs one.

2) Sephora/Ulta

This is technically 2 different stores, but Tyler needs some kind of beauty store.  I happen to love both of these stores because they both offer some of my favorite brands.

Tyler doesn’t have a store where I can buy all my beauty products and can compare  prices all in one stop.  We NEED one!!!

Well I want these stores to come NOW.  I NEED THEM!  Ha-ha, just kidding. Are their any stores that you want in your town?

Glamour’s “What To Wear For the Next 6 Months

In their August Issue, Glamour Magazine featured a beautiful spread of things to wear for the next 6 months. I couldn’t resist sharing:

 0709-suit-black-tights_li

Pair black tights with everything you own

They’re a sleek finishing touch, and they keep even a combo of girly layers, polka dots and lace trim from looking too cupcake-ish. 0709-red-suit-colorful-coat_li

Play off a print with an unexpected piece

0709-sweater-skirt_li

On our what-we’re-loving list for fall: grandpa cardigans, brimmed hats, patterned tights. Pick them in rich autumn colors like plum, teal and cocoa.

0709-cape_li

This fall try something dramatic—yes, even a cape!

Memorize: “With every outfit I put on, I will add one little-bit-different item”—could be boots with shorts, or a top with 0709-booties-hat_lipoufy sleeves.

Combine a white shirt with something waist-cinching0709-white-shirt-pencil-skirt_li

Re-think the white shirt.

Goofproof stylist trick: Tuck a bigger, billowier white top into a curve-hugging pencil skirt. VoilĂ , major fashion statement.

Do the slim pants/bigger top thing0709-slim-pants-bigger-top_li

Cozy up in a sweater coat.

A coat or sweater that hits around the knee makes a comfy new silhouette for work or the weekend.

Hope you enjoyed!!!  Will you be wearing any of these trends??

See the original slide show here for more details about the clothes!

What is your go-to backup outfit?

This morning I woke up 20 minutes later than I normally do. It left me with about 15 minutes to get ready. Eeek! So, I slapped on the bare minimum of makeup and put on a headband to tame my crazy hair. Then ran to my closet for clothes.

Now usually, I got through at least 2 outfits before I finally settle on one to wear. But today, I didn't have that luxury. So, I chose my trusty standby outfit. A jersey dress with a cardigan and heels.

Viola! I was out the door on time and still managed to look pulled together. I always wear a jersey dress when I'm rushed,, when I run a quick errand, or any other such incident. It is my go-to item! I have many in different colors and styles, but regardless, it’s always my safest choice when I'm in a bind.

What is your go to item? Do you have a backup plan when panic strikes?

Is it in your closet?
Could it be in your bathroom?

Let me know!!

What is Your Mortifying Beauty Product?

Last month, we talked about the one beauty product we couldn't live without. But is there a product that you use that you would be horrified if anyone found out you used it? Some beauty trick that everyone always compliments you on and you tell them its natural, when really its something only you well ever know? Well I know I do.

I use Nivea Good-bye Cellulite Gel-Cream. I think that it makes my stomach smoother, my thighs a little less jiggly, and my butt look a little rounder. Now whether this is actually true or not, I'll never know. And I don't really care too. I am perfectly happy thinking that this little gel cream does all of this. I feel better about myself in my clothes or bathing suit knowing I've used it.

Now I've just admitted something big here. The truth is if someone just found it in my bathroom, I would be horrified. I would blame that someone left it there or some outlandish excuse. Because frankly, a lot of people probably think this product is stupid. I did before I started to use it. And I don't want to be made fun of about my beauty products and no one really has or need to know.

So my question is do you use a product or beauty trick that you would be completely and utterly embarrased if someone found out? I told mine, what's yours?

No Buy July Update

Well No Buy July is quickly coming to an end. Here’s and update. It hasn’t been the easiest but I’ve been getting through it. Sure there has been plenty of temptation but I’ve done really well and resisted. That is until last Saturday. I had a terrible morning at the car repair place and then headed to Target to pick some last minute things before my friend came to town. This was my first mistake. My thought was, “well, I’ve had such a bad morning I’ll just buy one little pick-me-up.” Yes, even during No Buy July.

Well the little one thing turned into a dress, a pair of heels, and a new bathing suit. OK, and a necklace and bracelet set. *Sigh* I admit I was sorely disappointed in myself that I couldn’t resist. Now, everything I bought was terribly cute, deeply on sale, and has already been worn and paid for itself. But this still doesn’t excuse the fact that I bought something. This incident and all the temptations through out the month have made me realize how much I just buy without thinking. Or how much I buy when I feel sorry myself and other situations.

Am I the only like this? Do you buy things when you are down? Thanks for reading my big confession! Only a few more days left, I plan to be stronger the rest of the time but stay tuned!
